A WOMAN shocked to discover a man urinating in bushes near a busy Worcester road has called for a clean-up of the area.

Polly Rendall fears bushes lining the pathway off City Walls Road could hide muggers and is worried about possible attacks on the elderly.

Ms Rendall aged 31, was walking home along City Walls Road when she saw a man urinating in the bushes.

He turned around, exposing himself to her, and carried on relieving himself when she ran past him.

The receptionist said she was shaken by the incident, which happened around 5.30pm last Friday, but she is more concerned about the large bushes that cut off the pathway from the view of the main road.

" If a mugging did ever occur no one would see you in trouble at all," she said.

Dangerous

"This stretch of pavement is really quite dangerous, the shrubs cut the area off from the site and it makes you feel very vulnerable.

"The situation is made worse by the fact that the walkway is lower than the road beside it."

Ms Rendall, of Cole Hill, off Wyld's Lane, said that the vegetation was originally only knee-high and the visibility problem had only started around last month.

And although the plants were placed alongside the new cycle route to make the area more scenic, she feels they have now become a menace.

She says she would not walk in the area late at night and is worried about elderly residents using the route.

A spokesman for Worcester City Council said that the Highways Authority would look into the matter and take appropriate action.
