Bretforton 8, Blockley 1
This was a local derby that was very evenly matched at the start.
Somewhat against the run of play Bretforton took an early lead. A short corner hit out by Bobbie Handley was stopped by Sarah Hall for Debbie Slatter to strike a superb shot home.
Blockley retaliated within minutes with a short corner of their own. A powerful shot from Kerry Cassey rocketed into the net. Bretforton regaining their composure re-established their lead just before half time with a goal from Sarah Hall.
In the second half Bretforton played some excellent passing moves and began to dominate the match. Throughout the second half goals were scored at regular intervals. The goal scorers were Julie Hall, Kate Mitchell, Sue Harper (2), Julie Stowe and a second by Debbie Slatter.
During this half Blockley were awarded a penalty stroke but some superb keeping by Fiona Baldelli prevented them adding to their score. This was an excellent team effort from Bretforton who have improved throughout the summer league.
