A KINDHEARTED Ru-bery woman will be using foot power in the fight against cancer later this year.

Sue Fair, of Bittell Court, will join 90 people on a six-day walking trek along the Great Wall of China for the Cancer Research Campaign.

The charity, founded in 1923, is dedicated to finding new cancer treatments and cures, but with no funding from the Government it relies on volunteers to raise money to help pay for research.

This cause is of particular interest to Sue, who lost both her father, and two years ago her mother, to cancer.

The 100 kilometres trek, which is set to start on October 7, will begin its journey in the age old city of Beiijing.

Sue, a member Greens Health Fitness Centre, in Rubery, has already started training by setting herself challenging walks and has free use of the training facilities at the gym, as well as a designated fitness programme.

The 41-year-old told the Advertiser/Messenger: "Aft-er the death of my parents I found this challenge good therapy.

"I've already raised the target £2,500 for the event and, hopefully, there is more to come.

"I'm really looking forward to it and have already started planning next year's event when I'll do a four-day trek from London to Amsterdam."
