POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a service station, near Bromsgrove on Sunday.

The incident happened at Hopwood Service Station at juncton 2 of the M45 when a 62-year-old assistant was grabbed from behind by two masked men and forced at gun point into the shop.

He was then bundled into a toilet and locked in.

The manager was also forced into the toilets after being made to hand over £2,000 cash and £600 worth of telephone cards.

The raider, who told the pair to stay in the toilets, made their getaway possibly on a motorbike.

Police want anyone to come forward with information, but are particularly interested in speaking to a man, believed to be local, who approached the shop at the time of the incident.

The gunman is described as white, with a tanned complexion or possibly of Eastern appearance.

He is about 5ft. 10in. tall and of muscular build. His accomplice is black, about 5ft. 7in. tall and of slim build. He was wearing black jeans and jacket, a black ski mask, black gloves and trainers.

Dc Aslett, who is leading the hunt for the thieves, said: "This was a very frightening experience for these two and fortunately they weren't physically injured."
