IT'S one of the toughest jobs in football but Mick Cunningham is definitely up to the task.
He is the Bromsgrove Advertiser/Messenger District Football League referee of the year.
The Sidemoor whistle blower received the Fred Hurst Memorial Shield at the August meeting of the Bromsgrove Referees' Association.
The former player has been officiating in the area for 16 years. He was recognised by the league for his consistent performances.
League life member Keith Woodfield said: "I consider this to be the most important award of the season.
"It couldn't have gone to a nicer bloke. Mick is always obliging and will step in at short notice to cover a game."
He could not receive his award at the annual league presentation in June because he was on holiday.
