THE under-13s at Bromsgrove CC finished a rain-plagued league season with a flurry of four games in six days at the end of July.

Apart from a heavy defeat by a strong Alvechurch side, who finished top of the Worcester east league, the Town lads won the other games to grab the runners-up spot.

They showed good team spirit with strong performances from the senior players and newcomers.

Ben Rands and Joe Libbetta were the main stays of the batting with good scores from Chris Thurbon, Adam Jones, Stuart Young, Duncan Greeff and Phil MacHague at critical times. Top score of the season was 126 for five against Feckenham.

The bowling honours were shared between Greg Chinn (11 wickets), Rands (eight), Thurbon (eight), Libbetta (eight) with excellent support from Jones, MacHague, Duncan Greeff, Alex Richardson and Stuart Greeff who claimed two wickets in his first ever over.

Supporting these players was a strong and enthusiastic squad of 12-year-olds.
