A THRILLING game at Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday saw Droitwich Spa Firsts claim a winning draw.

Having set the home side 275 to win, Chaddesley needed a six off the final ball for victory but could only manage a single.

Droitwich were invited to bat on an excellent track which offered seam movement with the new ball.

Openers Geoff Ford and Stuart Bryan negotiated a tricky first ten overs before both were dismissed.

At 39-2 off 16 overs, Chaddesley held the upper hand but South African Wesley Euley and skipper Ian Duggan had other ideas.

They dismantled the Chaddesley attack and put on an excellent undefeated stand of 235 in only 31 overs.

Once both had passed the century mark, Duggan declared after 47 overs, giving Spa 53 overs to bowl Chaddesley out.

An early breakthrough from swing bowler Gary Cartwright was followed by a fine stand between Edwards (88) and Boden (50).

Chaddesley took up the challenge of scoring 100 in the final 15 overs. Some big hitting saw them get close as the gloom descended, but 12 from the last over was too much.

Two excellent pieces of fielding from veteran Dave Scott-Walker proved vital in the last over.
