BARNT Green CC Seconds travelled to Malvern on Sunday for their Worcestershire Sunday League match and toppled league-leaders Barnards Green by 43 runs in an absorbing encounter.
The visitors won the toss and batted on a soft wicket which looked like it would assist the bowlers - and so it proved.
Barnt Green posted a useful 177 all out in 45 overs.
Chris Edwards scored a polished and classy 58 and was ably supported by Gary Cowley, Gary Wood and Tom Reay.
Barnards Green fought an uphill struggle against some fine bowling, notably from left-arm spinner Reay who took 3-14 in eight overs which included four maidens.
The home side were soon in serious trouble at 26-5.
Inevitably 177 was out of their reach and after some spirited hitting they were bowled out for 133 in 33 overs as Barnt Green completed a fine win.
