AN extra 2,000 homes are being planned for Redditch within the next 10 years.
The houses would be in addition to the present Redditch Development Corporation plans for a population of 70,000 in the early 1980s.
And the houses would fall within the present designated area of the New Town.
Although councillors raised no objections to the plan, Redditch planning committee has put off discussion until September.
The homes are allocated to Redditch under the Hereford and Worcester county structure plan.
Redditch chief planner Mr David Woodrow has asked the council to back a request to the development corporation to make extra land available and to provide the necessary industry.
The construction of the homes is expected to take place between 1981 and 1986 though there was no information what amounts would be for sale or rent, said Mr Woodrow.
