IT is with great regret that I have to report that once again a high expectancy has failed to materialise.
As an avid 'spotter' of long standing, I have watched with interest Redditch Council's policy of leaving totally undisturbed the pathways, foliage and grass cuttings in the area between Linton Mews and Middleton Mews, Winyates East.
This is presumably to encourage the return of the endangered species, the seldom spotted Yellow Bodied Roadsweeper and its cousin, the Never Spotted Broomsweeper.
The financial support provided by residents to this project has obviously not been used to improve the habitat of these creatures, and I would suggest to other spotters that if they wish to view them before extinction, they should site their "hides" next to the homes of local councillors, for this appears to be where they are most active.
Your comments would be appreciated.
