A FURIOUS labourer jumped up and down on his own car in a rage after he blundered into his TV and knocked it over.

Justin Ruff's father eventually called the police when his 21-year-old son began shouting and swearing in the street outside his home.

Neighbours poured out of their houses to watch the spectacle as Ruff stamped on top of the silver vehicle.

Charles Hardy, prosecuting at Droitwich Magistrates Court, said officers went to the house in Brickfields, Worcester, after reports of a disturbance.

"A car was being damaged and a man shouting and swearing in the street," he said.

"When officers arrived the defendant was jumping up and down on his own car."

Ruff, of Brickfields Road, carried on with his outburst and ignored officers' warnings to stop.

"He ran off when they tried to restrain him," Mr Hardy, added.

"They chased him for a short distance before he tripped up on the kerb."

But David Taylor, defending, described it as a wholly bizarre incident.

"The only victim in it was my client," he said.

"The neighbours thought it was an amusing spectacle."

He said Ruff lost his temper when he dropped something in his house and knocked over the television set.

"He went outside and vented his anger on his car."

Mr Taylor said it was Ruff's father who reported him after becoming concerned about his behaviour.

"He found him acting in a very agitated manner," he said.

"But he is now very remorseful and has since apologised to his neighbours."

Ruff admitted using threatening words or abusive behaviour to cause alarm or distress.

Magistrates bound him over to keep the peace for six months in the sum of £100 and criminal proceedings were withdrawn.
