The player-manager was hoping to speak to a mystery utility player tonight and is set to get former Solihull hitman Joey Dowling's signature on Friday.
Defender Nigel Niblett has suffered a fresh injury blow with a calf injury in training which rules him out on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Harvey Willetts (ankle), defender Mark Creighton (blisters) and midfielder Richard Field (tonsilitis) should be in the frame but Neil Cartwright, Mark Swann, Scott Colcombe and Nigel Brown are still ruled out.
United entertain newly-formed Brierley and Hagley Alliance on Tuesday (ko 7.30pm).
