HEREFORD United have offered contracts to pre-season trialists Christian James and Daniel Davidson.

Director of Football Graham Turner said he expected both players to sign by the weekend.

James, who was released by Swansea, is a left-sided midfielder who can also operate in defence.

Former Leek Town striker Davidson, who stands six feet five inches tall, has impressed during his trial spell notably against Stourport Swifts where he scored one goal and created a second.

"Both have got raw potential and the gauntlet has been thrown down for them to see how they can improve," said Turner.

"Davidson is six foot five inches tall but is quite mobile for a big man.

"Christian James is 19 and was released by Swansea but I see him as a player with a lot of potential but with still a lot to learn."

James has been offered a full-time contract while Davidson, a trainee accountant, is on a part-time contract.

Turner revealed he was also seeking to bring in another midfield player to Edgar Street.

"We have been searching for another midfielder and I was very disappointed not bring another player in this week but we are still looking," he added.

Pegasus Juniors concluded their pre-season friendly fixtures with a 2-2 draw against West Midland League neighbours Leominster Town.
