MALVERN TOWN 5, HEATH HAYES 0

MALVERN Town went nap against mid table and league newcomers Heath Hayes on Saturday to extend their undefeated run to ten games after going into the interval 0-0.

Defences were on top for the early part but on the half hour Heath Hayes were reduced to ten men when, after scything down Nick Clayton, Lyndon Davies was shown the red card by referee Tony James.

This did not disjoint the visitors and Ross Sanders in the Town goal reacted superbly to fingertip a shot for Keith Morgan over the bar for a fruitless corner.

Play continued to be even for the remainder of the half with neither side creating any clear chances.

Malvern came out for the second period with all guns blazing and it was not surprise when on 65 minutes they took the lead. A good ball in from the right by Luke Chadwick to Andy Shepherd who headed down into the path of Dene Whittal-Williams for him to rifle the ball into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.

On 67 minutes it was 2-0 when Paul Ashby crossed from the left into the box for Andy Shepherd to steer it into the net past the advancing visiting keeper Stephen Deans.

The extra man was now paying dividends and Malvern continued to pile on the pressure and on 72 minutes Paul Ashby picked up a through ball from Steve Walker before racing into the box but, just when he was about to shoot, Scott Slade whipped his legs from under him with a reckless tackle which earned him a second yellow card, his marching orders, and Malvern a penalty, which Ashby took himself and gave Deans no chance.

Now reduced to nine men Hayes were chasing shadows and Malvern increased their lead on 80 minutes when Darren Wade threaded a superb ball through the visitor's defence into the path of substitute John Wade who beat keeper Deans with a clinical finish.

The nap hand was completed on the stroke of full time when a blistering shot by Whittal-Williams was too hot to handle for keeper Deans who could only parry the ball and it dropped to the feet of Ashby who had the easiest of chances to side foot home and complete the rout.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern are at home to Darlaston Town at Langland Stadium, 3pm kick-off.

Newcomer Adam Ward is serving a seven day suspension and Joe Maidment is on holiday.

Squad: Sanders, Lowe, Walker, Clayton, Cotterill, Whittal-Williams, Chadwick, Ashby, Wade (D), Wade (J), Shepherd, Bastock, Canon, Williams.
