LUDLOW TOWN 0, MALVERN TOWN 3

MALVERN Town maintained their New Year unbeaten record with an excellent 3-0 Banks's Brewery League Premier Division success at Ludlow Town on Tuesday.

Malvern were always in control of the game and had missed two reasonable chances from the edge of the six yard box before Andy Shepherd gave them the lead after good work by John Wade in the 39th minute.

In the second half Malvern were playing into a strong wind but with the defence playing well goalkeeper Ross Saunders did not have a difficult save to make.

Joe Maidment extended their lead in the 55th minute when he spotted the home goalkeeper off his line and superbly chipped him from some 20 yards. Two minutes from time Mick Lowe made it 3-0 from the penalty spot following a foul on Paul Ashby.

Town's assistant manager Richard Anson said: "We played very well considering conditions were not good, but this week we have a stiff test at home to Darlaston when we will be able to judge just how far we have come over recent weeks."
