HEATH HAYES 2, MALVERN TOWN 1
TOWN'S resources were stretched further for Tuesday's league visit to Heath Hayes with regulars Steve Walker, Adam Ward, Joe Maidment, Sean Cotterill, Luke Chadwick and John Wade all unavailable.
But despite this Town still did enough t have returned with at least a Banks's Premier Division point.
In a game where defences were largely on top, it was Heath Hayes who took the lead in the 20th minute when keeper Ross Sanders failed to deal with a long throw only to see the ball bounce back of the crossbar and into the path of a home forward who could hardly miss.
Rob Perrins had Town's best chance to equalise ten minute later but fired over when well placed.
The second period started with Town largely in control and with Ross Sanders generally unoccupied and when Nick Clayton equalised direct from a 75th minute corner Town looked capable of achieving at least a point. But this gave way to a five minute spell where Town lost their composure and allowed Heath Hayes to grab an 80th minute winner.
Shepherd came closest to an equaliser with an 88th minute header, but this was a second successive game where Town must be kicking themselves for gifting the opposition the points.
Malvern Town: Sanders, Hadley, Lowe, Bastock, Williams, Whittal-Williams, Shepherd, Clayton, D Wade, Perrins, Ashby. Subs not used: Oakley, Stone.
