MALVERN TOWN 2, LUDLOW TOWN 2

MALVERN Town continued their indifferent league performances with another slipshod display against lowly Ludlow Town on Saturday.

The first half was pretty mediocre with neither side creating very much until the 33rd minute when Ludlow took the lead. A free kick taken on the Malvern left by Nigel Vaughan was headed home at the back post by Gareth Horler with the home defence at sixes and sevens.

Malvern tried hard to get back into the game but promising attacks were breaking down in the final third so Ludlow had little difficulty keeping their noses in front until the half time whistle.

Malvern made a telling substitution at half time when Paul Ashby replaced the under the weather Darren Wade and it didn't take long for him to make his presence felt. On 49 minutes he brought the home side back into the game when he latched onto a ball in to the box to life it over Ludlow's keeper martin Poole and in to the net.

Their joy was short-lived however because on 42 minutes Ludlow went back in front. Another ball in to the box by Nigel Vaughan was this time headed home by Nick Bounds giving Ross Sanders in the home goal no chance.

The game got scrappy and ill tempered for a period after this and Andy Shepherd went into the note book for a verbal attack on the referee.

However, he had the last laugh when on 80 minutes he put Malvern level. He collected a through ball by Steve Walker and cleverly looped his shot over Poole and into the net.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern are away to Tipton Town for a Banks's Premier League game, kick off 3pm.

Malvern from: Sanders, Lowe, Whittal-Williams, Clayton, Walker, Maidment, Ashby, Ward, Cotterill, Wade (D), Shepherd, Hadley, Bastock, Williams, Dugdale and Oakley.
