A GROUP of firefighters is aiming to break the world record for climbing Everest in the quickest time later this month.
But they will not be braving the highest peak in the world, and will instead be aiming for the best time in a Worcester pub car park.
The team of eight Hereford and Worcester firefighters will be climbing steps on a Versa climbing machine in The Talbot Inn car park until they have reached the equivalent height of Everest.
The challenge is part of the Tything Festival, a charity event organised for Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.
Other attractions include live music, an auction and raffle.
All cash raised at the event will go to the county air ambulance, fire service's benevolent fund and Worcester Talking Newspaper for the Blind.
The festival is being held from 2pm until 10pm at the Talbot, in The Tything.
