Studley BKL 2 Redditch United 2

TEMPERS boiled over in a heated pre-season friendly at the Beehive on Saturday.

A mass brawl erupted after Studley hard man Mark Neath punched Redditch striker Paul Danks in front of the United bench in the second half.

Neath had already stoked the flames with an inflammatory celebration after lashing his side's first equaliser home in the 56th minute.

And after a heavy tackle from the Reds hitman in the 73rd minute Neath lashed out prompting the United subs to pile on to the pitch and most of the players from both sides to join in.

Calm was eventually restored when the referee ordered Neath to be replaced.

United manager Nicky Cross was able to field a more settled side and saw fit again Scott Colcombe draw first blood in the 29th minute, picking up a Danks ball on the edge of the box and wrongfooting Neath before clipping one home past BKL's debutant goalkeeper Melvyn Watson.

Two minutes after Neath levelled the visitors were back in front when a Richard Field cross was headed goalwards by sub Cross for the impressive Michael Campbell to bundle home.

Campbell is reportedly free to join Redditch because Alvechurch have broken his contract by not paying him and is improving from game to game.

But Mark Chambers' battling Studley side drew level when Simon Redhead rose unmarked to glance home a Neath corner in the 68th minute.
