n It is interesting to see the interpretation put on decisions of the council in relation to the Abbey Park Pershore draft plan (among others).
Ideas were considered by the council and formed the basis for consultation with the public and interested bodies.
As a result of comments made, the ideas were changed to fit with local views, something, in this instance that was simple and legal to do (this is not always the case).
The council was not "forced" to do anything at all. It simply reacted positively to the comments received.
It is regrettable that the language used in commenting on, and reporting, such matters always implies conflict and confrontation at a time when local authorities, generally, are trying to come together to improve facilities and services for the public.
Partnerships are the way forward and I would prefer to see the Press as a positive partner rather than seemingly working for a negative angle.
