A PROFESSIONAL Lyric Soprano is to return to her roots next weekend to raise the profile of a Worcestershire theatre.

Eleanor Peberdy, whose repertoire covers both early and contemporary music including operetta, musicals, oratorio and solo, will return to the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich, to perform Music for a Summer's Evening on Saturday, August 18.

The singer, who currently lives in Staffordshire, has performed at Worcester Cathedral, St Paul's Cathedral in Bristol and Birmingham Cathedral. She will be accompanied by Ivan Oliver on the piano with Joseph Middleton on violin.

"It's a pleasure to come back to my roots and do something for the Norbury Theatre where my career started," she said.

"I hope this will raise awareness of the theatre in the local community."

Violinist Shulah Oliver, who won the Director's prize at BBC Hereford and Worcester's Young Musician's Competition, will also accompany Eleanor.

Shulah joined the Royal College of Music last September with violin and viola as her principal studies and has won many competitions.

She has also played in a number of local and national orchestras and led the Worcestershire Youth Orchestra for three years.

Tickets to the performance, which cost £5, can be obtained from the theatre's box office on 01905 770154. Alternatively tickets can be purchased at the door on the night.
