ONE of the few British musicians to play alongside the legendary Louis Armstrong is to perform at Tewkesbury's Roses Theatre.

Terry Lightfoot, accompanied the great man in Soho in 1956, after forming his own jazz band the year before. Then in 1965 Terry and his band were invited by the jazz legend to perform during the Louis Armstrong All Stars UK tour of that year.

Now Terry and his band are to present a tribute to the work of Armstrong during a concert at the theatre on Saturday, August 18.

The show, entitled The Special Magic of Louis Armstrong, will include a number of great songs including Hello Dolly, Mame, Wonderful World and Cabaret.

The band will also perform a number of hits from Armstrong's earlier days with The Hot Five and King Oliver.
