THE Duckworth Worcestershire Trust has hailed its volunteer litter warden scheme a success after over a dozen people signed up to clear litter in Malvern and Worcester.
Ahead of a trust meeting in Malvern later this month, volunteer Ann Silk said many people in the town already picked up litter using their own initiative. But, she said, the scheme is a way to bring them together and recognise their efforts.
"It's like an umbrella for getting like-minded people together, and everybody having an input. I'm very happy with the response so far, there are people out there who are beginning to come forward and I'm quite optimistic that something will come of it," she said.
The trust is dedicated to promoting a healthier and cleaner environment in Worcestershire and is encouraging more people to sign up to the scheme.
People interested in becoming litter pickers can attend the meeting at the RSRE Sports and Social Club in Spring Lane on Monday, August 20 at 7.30pm.
