The Joseph bandwagon rolled into Malvern for the umpteenth time this week, in a production largely unchanged from the performances earlier this year.

This of course was no bad thing. Kiwi Glen Drake still makes an excellent Joseph, and still has the Slim Shady dungaree look.

Aura Deva took over the role of narrator and provided a powerful voice for the story, perhaps even too powerful at times, although when performing softer numbers her voice was exquisite.

As before, the star of the show was Trevor Jary as Pharoah, sending the ladies wild in a dazzling sea of flexible limbs and curling top lips. An extra moment of drama was provided when the King lost control of his microphone and sent it hurtling into the orchestra pit, but luckily the musicians escaped serious injury.

As always, the show ended as Joseph and the Amazing Ever-lasting Encores, with the cast seemingly determined to run through the entire show again. However, the audience seemed delighted to oblige them with customary singing, dancing and hand clapping, and I suspect many were singing merrily as they made their way home.
