MALVERN Athletic FC, formerly Colletts Green, have disbanded and withdrawn from the Midland Combination Division Two due to lack of support.
The club, which played on the Council-owned Victoria Park, has had a couple of turbulent seasons narrowly avoiding relegation in the last two seasons and a poor start last year almost saw the club fold up.
Last year's secretary and assistant manager Dave Ilsley said the club had organised an annual general meeting and only he and the treasurer turned up, another later meeting suffered similar fate.
Mr Ilsley said: "The club has been fined £500 for late withdrawal from the league but there was little support and nobody was prepared to carry on, so there was no choice."
The club had originally resigned from the League earlier this year following uncertainty about whether League-requirement barriers around their pitch would have to be removed but withdrew their letter when a Town Council decision meant the barriers would remain until May 2002.
