ON July 25, members of Longdon Churchwomen's Fellowship enjoyed a beautiful evening in the garden of Longdon Hall by kind invitation of Pat Unwin.

The committee had prepared a considerable meal of hot and cold dishes. This was followed by an array of desserts and there were many second visits to the tables for both courses. There were two raffles, one of a large square silk scarf decorated with parrots in many colours, which members had started to hand paint at a meeting when Sally King demonstrated the art of silk painting and displayed some of her own work. Sally finished the painting of the scarf at home and the proceeds of the raffle £34.50, which was won by Joyce Holmes, will go to the Air Ambulance. The second raffle was for the fellowship's own funds. Thanks to Norah Rudd and Ron Pember for selling the tickets.

As the meal progressed, some brain teasing quizzes were presented, some had more energy than others by then! It was particularly good to see members who had not been able to get to other meetings on this occasion, particularly Pam Fellows and Doris Leake. Also welcomed were Chris Moss and family, Geoffrey and Ellen Moore and Margaret Davies (past president of the fellowship) as guests. Thanks to Pat for inviting the fellowship to share her beautiful garden and to the committee for all their hard work.

On Sunday, August 12 the fellowship are going on a riverboat trip leaving Tewkesbury Marina at 12.30pm sharp.

Longdon Leapfrogs have enjoyed a busy summer term. They have focused on animals and for this their imaginative play area was transformed into a veterinary surgery.

Some of the activities included making animal masks and baking cheese animals. One of the parents who works in a veterinary practice kindly talked to the children about their own pets.

During the second half of the term the vets became the 'Costa Del Longdon' complete with sea, sand and Punch and Judy show. Many thanks to St Mary's School for the loan of the puppet theatre, which the children enjoyed tremendously, they foot-printed, made sandwiches for a teddy bear's picnic and created some fantastic fish to swim in the sea. Sadly, some children are leaving at the end of term. They are wished much happiness as they begin their school lives. For further information about the group please contact Anne Houghton 01684 833258 or Sally Sinclair 01684 833356.

On Sunday August 12 from 2pm to 5pm there will be a children's fun day in the playing field opposite the village hall, Bear Lane. There will be lots to do including a bouncy castle, pony rides and various other activities. Refresh-ments will be available.

There will be a service of Holy Communion on Sunday, August 12, beginning at 8am at St Mary 's Church.
