REPLACEMENT opening bat Rob Symonds provided the highlight of Kidderminster's innings as they fell to their sixth defeat of the season at Aston Unity.

They are still stranded at the foot of the Birmingham and District Premier League and are 21 points off safety from relegation.

Unity won by four wickets after Kidderminster produced yet another mediocre batting display.

Three players were held up in traffic so Kidderminster readjusted their batting line-up with Symonds partnering regular opener Richard Wilkinson.

Despite losing two wickets in the third and fourth overs, Symonds held firm for his 64, dominating stands of 41 with Phil Newport, 31 with James Pipe and 50 with Kaleem Ashraf.

But Symonds was eventually the first of Sammy Khan's three victims.

His final score included 10 fours and two sixes from 98 balls to top score for the day.

Once Symonds departed at 130-5, the next five wickets fell for only 38 runs in 17 overs.

After a short break for rain at the beginning of the Unity innings, their overs were reduced to 43.

Symonds (3-34) and former England international Newport (3-56) made early inroads into the home team's line-up and at 59-5 from 19 overs KCC were optimistic.

However, Asif Din came to the crease and hit 59, including nine fours and a six, and boosted the total to 145 with partner Paul Fitzgerald (40no)

When Din departed to Symonds, Unity needed 24 runs from 23 balls for victory.

This was achieved with four balls to spare, Alan Kirnon wrapping up the proceedings with a boundary for the Warwickshire side.

Kidderminster 168 (four points), Aston Unity 170-6 (20).
