MARK Williams has become Hereford United's third summer signing.

The 22-year-old central defender has joined the Bulls after being freed by Rotherham United at the end of last season.

He joins fellow newcomers Scott Voice and Scott Goodwin at Edgar Street, and United's Director of Football Graham Turner is hoping for great things from the latest addition to his squad.

Turner said: "He has a lot going for him and there is plenty of room for improvement, and Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore recommended him highly.

"He is a decent lad and is a player with potential.

"We had him watched in the reserves a couple of times last year, we met him recently and subsequently made him an offer which he accepted."

Williams had made 11 first-team appearances with Rotherham, although he didn't play in last season's Second Division promotion-winning side.

He has also been on the books of Everton, Tranmere and Rochdale, also making 14 league appearances for the latter.

Turner has several trialists on board for pre-season training and hopes to persuade some of them to remain at Edgar Street, depending on how they fare.

The Bulls kick-off their pre-season programme at Tamworth on Tuesday, July 24.
