KIDDERMINSTER Harriers utility player Adie Smith has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 27-year-old, signed from neighbours Bromsgrove Rovers for £19,000 in 1997, had another 12 months left on his existing contract, but manager Jan Molby has decided to offer him a new deal.

Molby said: "It's a reward for what he has shown me during my two years here.

"He has done very well in that period and adapted fluently to football at a higher level.

"I still feel there is enough in Adie to become a better player and I am confident he will.

"We like to reward players who have done well, like we did for Craig Hinton last season, and he fully deserves it."

Molby said Smith would start the season at Aggborough in his preferred position as centre-half, which is likely to rule out any further moves to bring Crewe Alexandra's Chris Lightfoot to Aggborough.

Meanwhile, Harriers' Third Division trip to Macclesfield Town has been put back one day to Sunday, October 7, kick-off 2pm.

The game has been moved from the Saturday as it clashes with England's World Cup qualifier against Greece.
