WORCESTER Rugby Club threw down the gauntlet to Leeds Tykes on Saturday after a 29-12 demolition of London Welsh with the message -- "Catch us if you can."

The Sixways side went 11 points clear at the top of National One with the victory at Old Deer Park and, with Leeds' game at Exeter postponed, the second-placed club were forced to watch Worcester power on with yet another bonus point bonanza.

Even hard-to-please coach Adrian Skeggs was delighted with their performance which featured five tries and a hat-trick for Ally McLean.

He said: "I am very, very happy with the bonus point and the win considering London Welsh are the third best side in the league and we played the game in extremely difficult conditions.

"We kept our composure and I was very pleased with our effort and performance overall because we were a little big ugly in the first 20 minutes but we eventually worked it out. Hats off to the boys, we've come here early and I think we'll have a few beers this afternoon."

He added: "I was pleased we killed London off because in the past we've been a bit yellow in that department. I would certainly say this is our best performance away from home this season."

Skeggs heaped praise on McLean who grabbed his chance with both hands after a frustrating period of waiting in the wings for the first few months of the season.

"The amazing thing about Ally is that he is extremely strong on his feet and not only did he take his chances well today he was good defensively.

"However, he's in there to score tries and I take my hat off to him -- it was good stuff.

"He has been working hard when he has not been in the team, he's a guy who understands hard work and is a good pro."
