TONGAN World Cup star Sateki Tuipulotu joined his Worcester team mates in training for the first time today after gaining a work permit from the Home Office.

The former Leeds full-back is now cleared to play in the club's promotion race in Allied Dunbar Premiership Two and could play against Oxford University at Sixways on Wednesday night.

But scrum-half Sililo Martens, who agreed a deal with Worcester along with Tuipulotu two weeks ago, is still waiting for clearance.

Martens returned home to New Zealand after Tonga's exit from the World Cup and the 22-year-old is still waiting for his work permit.

Tuipulotu's case has proved simpler as he was already resident in the United Kingdom after spending three successful seasons with one of Worcester's fiercest rivals Leeds.

The 28-year-old, who shot to fame with a dramatic injury-time drop-goal to beat Italy in the World Cup, left Headingley during the summer after rejecting a part-time deal.

n Upton moved into fourth place in North Midlands One following a fine 20-13 home victory over Five Ways OE.
