EXETER Chiefs' skipper Rob Baxter is aiming for the precious scalp of Worcester in tomorrow's crunch National One clash and with it a slice of revenge.

The second-from-bottom side travel to Sixways with the pain of a 10-try drubbing at Leeds still fresh in the memory, but Baxter can still remember the hurt of last season's last-gasp defeat at Worcester which he still believes was an injustice.

Although Worcester shaded a superb game 28-24, there were those who insisted that Exeter had scored a perfectly good close-range try in the dying moments only to see the referee cancel it out.

"I couldn't see it as I was in the middle of it all," recalled Baxter.

But several other players said it was a try."

That March performance came on the back of a 16-10 win over Worcester at the County Ground and Exeter eventually finished in a creditable fourth place in Premiership Two considering their resources.

However, Baxter will not be taking too much comfort from the past performances as Exeter have endured a dreadful time in National One, winning only two games this season.

"Although we beat them once and very nearly beat them twice last season, we've got to look at the game in the context of this season.

"We've got to be careful, as a group of players, that we don't put ourselves under pressure by looking at the league table too much and seeing us down in the relegation zone with a gap opening up.

"We need to play games. We're half-way through the season in terms of time yet we've lost only once at home -- and that game we could easily have won."

Former Gloucester ace Baxter hopes to make his own comeback from injury after a two-month absence having had it delayed by last week's postponed game with Orrell. "My hand isn't 100 per cent but I've got it strapped up and I feel it's playable," he added.
