PHIL Maynard's long and distinguished service to Worcester Rugby Club has been recognised with a prestigious national award.
The club's director of player management, who has now been at Sixways for seven years, was presented with an unsung hero award from the Rugby Union Writer's Club in London last night.
He was given a tankard along with Rotherham lock John Dudley, former England international Graham Dawe and Varsity coach Tony Rogers.
"There were more legends there than in Zeus's handbook and just being among them made me really happy," said Maynard. "I'm flattered with the award, it came as a real shock."
