WORCESTER scored a one-sided 41-3 victory over struggling Orrell on Saturday to ease the pain of last weekend's defeat against Leeds.

But with both Leeds and Rotherham winning handsomely they will just have to get used to being frustrated on a Saturday afternoon, at least for the time being.

Leeds scored an unsurprising 57-0 win at home to bottom club West Hartlepool but Rotherham's superb 41-6 win at Manchester keeps them top of the Premiership Two table.

Worcester know they are up against it and will need a Herculean effort to win the title but started the task in fine style.

They won the try count 6-0 and Orrell hardly threaten to cross their 22 never mind the try line.

"It's nice to get back on the road and the lads played with commitment and spirit," said director of rugby Les Cusworth.

"Jim Jenner was outstanding in attack and defence and the scrummaging was extremely good.

"The interplay was good, we played with ball in hand and Sateki Tuipulotu came into the line with good effect.

"We haven't conceded a try now for four hours of rugby and are getting the defence back to where it was 18 months ago.

"We told the players to express themselves and enjoy the game of rugby and I think that showed in the performance."

Centre Andy Currier opened the scoring on four minutes and by half-time centre Andrew Higgins, lock Richard Denhardt and full-back Sateki Tuipulotu had also crossed.

The second half was scrappy and marred by a shocking broken leg suffered by Orrell utility back Darren Fletcher.

It rocked both sides and Worcester had to wait until injury time before scoring their final tries through Nick Baxter and Tuipulotu.

Tony Yapp also marked his return to the side with four conversions from six attempts and a penalty.

"I kicked quite well this week and was striking the ball well in training," said Yapp.

"It's good to be back in the team and we were able to throw the ball around and try a few things.

"It was 29-3 at half-time and they hadn't had a sniff so it's difficult to get going again.

"We lost our concentration and final passes went astray, we had lost our finishing edge.

"But the broken leg didn't help us and I know Andy Higgins was shocked for the next 10 minutes."
