WORCESTERSHIRE rugby fans will have a rare opportunity to see the Crawshay's Welsh XV, one of the world's leading touring clubs, in action at Worcester's Sixways ground on Tuesday, April 3 (7.30pm).
Crawshay's make a few visits to England these days, but they have promised to bring a strong side to Worcester for the game against a North Midlands President's XV, which will help the county prepare for their forthcoming Tetley's County Championship campaign.
Crawshay's, who were formed in 1922 by Captain William Crawshay, have played only two other games in England this season, against London Welsh and Cambridge University. Their side against Cambridge included seven full internationals.
Terry Rees, this year's North Midlands president, has appointed Richard Moon, the former Moseley, Walsall and England 'A' scrum-half, to select a strong county side. Moon is the elder brother of Wales scrum-half Rupert.
North Midlands hope to include players from Worcester and Birmingham & Solihull's National League One squads in their side and they have invited representatives of all the county's member clubs to a pre-match reception provided they reply to county officials in advance.
