FORMER Leeds Rhinos star Harvey Howard could play a vital part in the Tykes downfall after being drafted into the Worcester Rugby Club squad.

Worcester's director of coaching, Adrian Skeggs has brought in long-time friend Howard as a secret weapon to counteract the power of Leeds Tykes in the National One showdown on Sunday (2.30).

England's World Cup Rugby League star Howard travelled to Sixways today as part of Skeggs' plan to tighten up Worcester's defence before their biggest test of the season.

Second-placed Leeds have been in irresistible form in recent months, repeatedly rattling up 50 plus point scores to cut the gap on leaders Worcester from 11 to just three points.

They also have a game in hand on Skeggs' men, making the match a must-win clash for Worcester. The coach believes the Wigan Warriors prop can make a big difference to the Gold'n'Blues' defence and the 32-year-old may join up with the squad again on Saturday for last-minute preparation.

Skeggs said: "He has been very successful in Australia with the Brisbane Broncos and also played in the World Cup so he is a very experienced voice that the players will respect."
