Four members of Worcester Rugby Club's ladies' first team are off to France for the European Championships today.
Number eight Jaine Lock, flanker Alex Pilkington, hooker Nicola Goodwin and centre Karen Andrew are part of the 24-strong England Select side that will travel to Lille in Northern France.
The championships kick-off on Monday (May 7) when England face Kazakhstan.
The winners face either Spain and Italy in the semi-finals on Wednesday, with the final scheduled for next Saturday, May 12.
Meanwhile, back row forward Jaine Lock has been confirmed as the new captain of Worcester Ladies.
England A international Lock was vice-captain last season and has played for Worcester for three seasons.
Last season's captain Joanne Yapp will be acting as vice captain, she has decided to stand down due to World Cup commitments.
Worcester Ladies also awarded their end of season honours at a recent Ladies Dinner.
Player of the Season was awarded to captain and England scrum half Joanne Yapp, Most Improved Player was awarded to vice captain and England A back row Jaine Lock.
Second Team Player was awarded to second team captain Julie Coltman and Clubwoman of the Year went to second team wing Annelies Acda.
Former British Lions, England and Harlequins hooker Brian Moore will be guest speaker at Worcester Rugby's Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday May 12th.
The evening will feature the annual presentation of awards to players from the professional squad, Worcester Wanderers, colts and ladies sections.
The annual event is open to players and partners and club members and supporters with tickets priced £25 each. Tickets and further details are available from Maxine James at the club on 01905 454183.
