GEOFF Cooke's first match in charge of Wor-cester Rugby Club saw the team score a comfortable 30-8 victory over mid-table Henley.

In a low key affair, they were able to restore some confidence after last week's mauling at the hands of Premiership Two leaders Rotherham.

Cooke made six changes from last week's team including switching Tony Yapp to full-back and Sateki Tuipulotu to the wing and it was Tuipulotu's brace of tries in the first 12 minutes off the second half which killed off the game.

Worcester scored two other tires through flanker Nathan Carter and prop Neil Lyman both from line-outs.

"With all that's happened and then the weather it was a bit of a flat atmosphere no doubt about it," said Cooke.

"But from our point of view little bits of play pleased me, Tony Yapp at full-back and Sateki Tuipulotu on the wing worked well and we never looked like losing the game.

"We just needed to win and we needed to remind ourselves we're not such a bad side after all.

"I made the changes because I had to bring something different to the team after Rotherham and give the thing some impetus.

"The only disappointing thing was there some sloppy decisions which allowed Henley to score some points.

"We were looking for a shut out but maybe that's being a bit greedy."

Another change since the sacking of Les Cusworth in mid-week saw lock Richard Denhardt captain the side for the first time since moving from Moseley two seasons ago.

"We're relieved to win more than anything else," he said.

"Affairs like that happen at the club and it's up to us to put it together on the field and in the second half we got into our stride. It was one of those game's where nothing was at stake and the conditions didn't help but we were anxious to play well.

"Sometimes you try too hard we made a few errors with restart kicks and kicking long into space but it's good to get the win.

"Henley are mid-table position and it's hard being there with nothing to play for, but everyone still wants to knock us off our perch.

"They would look at the result and try and expose any chinks but we worked for 80 minutes and eventually scored 30 points."
