TWO of Worcester Rugby Club's loan rangers at Bedford will not be coming back to Sixways.

Centre Jamie Connolly and utility back Duncan Hughes have both received letters stating their contracts will not be renewed in the summer.

The pair went to Premiership One Bedford on loan in February along with lock Dave Sims, but despite forging their way into the side they have been told their services are not required at Worcester.

Hughes received his letter within a week of moving but said he has no bad feelings as it proved a blessing in disguise. He has been first choice at stand-off and has played opposite players such as Jonny Wilkinson, Thierry Lacroix and Austin Healey.

"It has been a good move for me as it has for the others," he said.

"I didn't think I would get to chance to play in Premiership One with anyone other than Worcester, so this is an opportunity I'm taking with both hands.

"It has done me a favour but Worcester is still my club and I want to go back at some point."

Connolly has also forced his way into an improving Bedford team which faces a two-leg play-off against Rotherham later this month to regain Premiership One status.

"I'm still contracted with Worcester until June 30, but I've had a letter saying it won't be renewed," said Connolly.

Sims is still on loan and has another 12 months to run on the Worcester contract he signed at the start of the season. He is due to have talks with Geoff Cooke in the next few weeks.

The future of the rest of Worcester's playing squad should become clearer later this week after clubs have voted on whether to adopt Rob Andrew's blueprint for the future.

Worcester will then learn whether or not they are playing for promotion next season and will plan accordingly.
