WORCESTER Rugby Club have taken their total of close season signings to seven by recruiting two more players.

Samoan international fly-half Earl Va'a has been snapped up from Italian club L'Aquila, while left-winger Spencer Bromley has arrived from Irish club Belfast Harlequins.

Chief executive Geoff Cooke regards Va'a as a key signing. The 28-year-old, capped eight times by his country, played in last year's World Cup.

He had three seasons with Richmond before moving to Italy, where he helped his club qualify for next season's European Cup. He also played both union and league in New Zealand.

Cooke said: "He is a very dangerous attacking player and is also a goal-kicker. We hope his international experience will help get the best out of the rest of the team.

"We had a few problems at fly-half with consistency of performance last year, so he is a major signing in that respect."

Bromley, aged 30, is an England 'A' international who has played for Rugby Lions, Harlequins and Liverpool St Helen's. He also had a spell in France before moving to Ireland, where he played for Belfast Harlequins and Ulster and gained European Cup experience last season.

He was released after a new Irish Rugby Football Union ruling on non-Irish players.

Cooke added: "There were a number of First Division clubs after his services so we are delighted to have got him.

"With him on one wing and Nick Baxter on the other we will have a very strong combination."

Cooke says negotiations are continuing with several other transfer targets, and added: "I think over the next two weeks there will be several more announcements regarding new players."
