WORCESTER Rugby Club have moved a step closer to winning their battle for promotion to the Premiership One.
Club chairman Cecil Duckworth attended the annual meeting of the Rugby Football Union, at which clubs voted overwhelmingly in favour of a two-up-two-down system between all divisions in the pyramid.
That includes between Premiership One and Two, which had been put under threat by restructuring scheme.
The plans now have to be ratified by the RFU Council, of which Duckworth is a member.
He said: "It is good news. If we win the league we should be promoted -- that is how it has been and how it should be. Anything different to that should be thrown out."
Duckworth said he hoped the plans would get Council approval within the next few days.
