ADRIAN Skeggs believes Worcester Rugby Club's latest signing will give his side the mean streak they need to clinch promotion.

The Sixways director of coaching has signed Mohamed Benbouhout on a one-year contract after the French Under-21 international impressed during training last week.

Benbouhout joins Worcester from French Premiership side Dax after previously starring for fellow French club Agen.

The prop forward, who can play at either loose or tight head, weighs 18 stone and could feature in tomorrow's friendly with Bath's second string at Sixways, kick-off 7.30pm.

Skeggs said he was delighted to have the 22-year-old on board and hopes Benbouhout will beef up their National League Division One championship bid which starts at Orrell on Saturday.

He said: "I think we're a bit too nice at the moment and I want us to get nasty. That is why Mohamed is here because he will stiffen up the pack.

"He's an up and coming French prop who has played at national under-21 level so he will add a lot of quality to the squad.

"With his quality and experience I would hope he would feature against Orrell. He hasn't done much pre-season work, but you have to remember he only finished playing a month ago."
