LES Cusworth has described Worcester Rugby Club's new stand as boasting one of the best views in the land.

The club's director of rugby spoke as the new south stand was officially unveiled by the RFU's management board chairman Brian Baister.

"It's very impressive and one of the best views in the country," said Cusworth. "It's a continuation of the rugby club's pursuit of excellence and one of the best of its kind."

The stand has cost £2m to build and boasts 32 corporate hospitality boxes and 1,400 covered seats taking the Sixways capacity up to 5,400.

Cash for the project has come from Gold 'n' Blues backer Cecil Duckworth and a £250,000 Sports Ground Initiative grant. The club are still looking for a company to sponsor the stand.

The sale of seat debentures and hospitality packages has also helped fund building work.

Work started in February this year and the stand will be fully functional for the first time this Saturday for the visit of Rugby Lions.

Worcester prop Tony Windo was in action for the Premiership All Stars side beaten 67-14 by England at Anfield last night.

Former Gloucester forward Windo replaced Northampton's Garry Pagel at the start of the second half and had a bruising battle with England's Darren Garforth.

Winger Austin Healey was the hero of England's ten-try victory, the Leicester back touching down four times.
