KENDAL Rugby Club have described their draw at home to Worcester in the Tetley Bitter Cup as 'wonderful'.

Worcester will be the second Premiership club to visit Mintbridge in the last 12 months after London Scottish scraped a 25-20 victory in round four last season.

And Kendal are hoping for another bumper crowd of 3,000 for the visit of wealthy Worcester in this year's round three.

"It's a wonderful draw, we wanted anybody at home and hopefully Worcester will attract a big crowd just like we had for London Scottish," said club spokesman John Hutton.

"On paper it looks to be most difficult draw we could have had, Worcester have won seven out of seven this season and did a heck of a job on Wakefield last Saturday.

"We're looking forward to it even though it will be a difficult encounter.

"We had 3,000 for the visit of London Scottish and the interest is certain to be there in the club and the town again. The town has supported us really well in cup runs before."

Kendal are unbeaten at home this season and lie second in Jewson Two North with five wins out of six.

Their only defeat so far was against a Walsall side guided by former Worcester coach Bob Harknett and including a number of former Sixways players.

Worcester last played Kendal in February 1997 when they came away with a tight 19-17 victory thanks to two tries from Nick Baxter and a third by prop Mark Linnett. Tim Smith also landed two conversions.
