WORCESTER Rowing Club's hopes of glory at Henley Royal Regatta have been dashed.
The men's coxless four's bid to lift the Visitors Cup were ended at the quarter-final stage, when the line-up of Phil Whiteley, Chris Chilton, Chris Farr and Jeremy Richardson suffered a 2-length defeat to a Cambridge University and Black Sheep RC crew.
Worcester were hoping to emulate last year's success when they lifted the Wyfold Cup, the first-ever victory for the club at the world-famous regatta.
Olympic gold medallists Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell look odds-on to take the Silver Goblets Challenge after beating London RC.
Pinsent is looking for a fifth win in the event.
