I WAS utterly disgusted with the attitude and ignorance displayed by G Lewis (You Say, June 26).

Janet Harvey quite rightly attended A&E, having suffered a spider bite. She probably delayed for five days in the vain hope that the effects of the extraordinary bite would disappear.

Spider bites are front page news in this country because they are unusual. Such things can be unpredictable.

I can understand that Ms Harvey was probably non-pleased and worried as to how to proceed in such circumstances.

It is worth noting that in other countries bites from species such as Black Widows can be fatal.

Incidentally, I attended A&E a couple of years ago when I smashed a finger in a car door.

I suppose this correspondent would say I wasted NHS time as well.
