Summer Magic

Palace Theatre

by Dee Sharp

AFTER the success of our first stage show Musical Magic last year, several patrons who saw it encouraged us to put on another.

The production was another resoundingly successful family variety show, enjoyed tremendously by everyone.

It was again hosted and compered by the extremely versatile and very talented Trevor Trix, who gave a first-class performance with his own unique style of comedy, magic and ventriloquism with the help of his two "artificial children" Ziggy and Lucy.

The show featured a kaleidoscope of well-known songs which were all performed with the warmth, sincerity and, where appropriate, power and energy that put the records in the charts when recorded and released by the original artists over the past 30 years or so.

The Elite Academy of Dance and Gymnastics provided another superb spectacle of different song and dance routines, which really complemented the singers.

The Primrose Choir gave its rendition of popular songs and joined everyone onstage for the finale, a medley of foot-tapping, hand-clapping songs ending with Livin' La Vida Loca to round off a super evening's entertainment.

We now look forward to an all-new production - West End Magic - in October, which will feature classic songs from the West End shows plus a musical journey through time and our host and compere with his special brand of fun.

Prior to the Summer Magic show a special concert was organised and performed at Studley Sports and Social Club in aid of the Special Care Baby Unit at the Alexandra Hospital.

The event was very well organised by Trevor Trix, who assembled a group of local artistes and staged an excellent cabaret-style variety show.
