REDDITCH captain Guy Muspratt was this week preparing his troops for their Birmingham KO Cup semi-final at Wolverhampton tonight (6.30pm start).

The Bromsgrove Road side are one match away from glory in their first season in the competition and go into the game on the back of a winning draw at the weekend.

Redditch continued their resurgence by banking 13 points against Fordhouses and skipper Muspratt was upbeat despite failing to secure a win by one wicket.

"I had six balls against their last man and had been bowling from the same end so I was a bit tired," he said.

"If I had been a bit fresher we probably could have won but we would have been happy with a winning draw at the start of the day."

Aussie Jason Morgan (113) is in ominous form having racked up 100 for the second successive Saturday and then another on Sunday.

And limited overs specialist Brian Powell is being recalled at the expense of Dan Protherough after his exploits in the last round against Stourbridge.

Reds captain Muspratt is hopeful his Division Two West side can cause an upset against Premier outfit Wolverhampton.

"Predictably we have everyone available for a semi-final," he added. "We are hoping Wolverhampton will underestimate us but it's unlikely. When it gets to a semi-final everyone takes things seriously."

Ian Phelan is set to comeback as wicketkeeper for Spencer Cox and Muspratt is hoping to field a similar side for the visit of Shifnal in the league on Saturday (1pm start).

The first league meeting between the sides was rained off.

n Redditch 2nds visited top-of-the-table Wellington and were put into bat.

Richard Young (18) gave them a solid start and there was good support from Nick Fowkes (30), Brian Powell (48), Geoff Eley (43) and skipper Paul Baker (18) as Redditch posted 193-7 off their 50 overs.

Young bowlers Richard Young and Alan White made the early breakthrough and the reliable Steve Merry (3-35) and Robin Biddle (5-35) saw Redditch to a 79-run victory.

n Redditch 3rds put on an excellent performance to beat an experienced Kings Heath team by seven wickets.

Heath were all out for 129, Matt James (3-25) leading the way.

In reply youngster Richard Stokes topped the scoring with 61 and there was good support from Steve Rose (28 not out) and Brian Bisp (17) to secure the Redditch win.
