YES, the Rev D G Griffin (You Say, June 25), Oldham has been in racial turmoil for a very long time.

There was little previous mention by national politicians or the media, especially during the run-up to the General Election when we had the unelected and unaccountable Commission for Racial Equality trying to nobble potential MPs by insisting that they pledge not to exploit race during the election.

Now we have had Oldham (and Aylesbury, Bradford, Burnley, Leeds and Trent Bridge, too?)

Liberal Democrats Charles Kennedy and Simon Hughes put the blame for Oldham squarely on former Tory leader William Hague.

And Home Officer Minister John Denham has assured the Commons that he found the rioting "deeply disturbing" (!)
