S Howells (25) continued on, almost on his own, but Shahid dismissed him at 127-8, Emlyn Vicarage taking his third catch behind the stumps. Irfan then cleared up the remainder for Eastnor's win.

BROCKHAMPTON II v EASTNOR II

EASTNOR 2nd's visited Brockhampton on Saturday with an understrength side and put up a creditable performance against a Brockhampton team who were also missing regular players.

On being asked to bat Eastnor's first wicket fell on eleven when Matt Panter was dismissed. Astbury (17) then joined Dave Jones (9) and the pair took the score to 35 when the later was caught.

Playing with a straight bat Pat Locke then came to the crease and the youngster was the visitors top scorer with an encouraging 20 as wickets fell regularly with Eastnor all out for 124.

Two other under 15 players Adam McTear (13) and Mark Wildig (11) and the slightly older Gary Watkins (14) were the only other players to reach double figures as the home teams bowlers shared the wickets with Edwards, Charteris and Jones all taking three.

Brockhampton's reply started steadily against some good bowling from Wildig, who took the first wicket.

The introduction of John Taylor and Mike Jarrett saw more wickets fall as the home team slumped to 70-5. P Edwards (25no) and A Sherlock (21) then formed a valuable and sensible partnership to almost see Brockhampton home until Taylor bowled Sherlock for his 3rd wicket.

The home side went on to win by four wickets.
